About me

Hi! I’m Roxanne (they/them) and I’m a freelance game programmer based in the Netherlands with around 5 years experience working in the game industry. I graduated from the IT University of Copenhagen in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Games (tech track). I have previously worked on games in the Netherlands at Firebrush Studios, Oogbaard and Codeglue (now called Behaviour Rotterdam). My latest job was at a Danish award-winning indie game studio called Die Gute Fabrik.

I’m an excellent communicator and am used to communicating across departments and specialisms, whether that be in person or in calls. With Die Gute Fabrik I was also able to develop my leadership skills when they promoted me to Deputy Lead Programmer.

In my own work I excel at implementing, iterating and polishing game features. I’m especially adept at prototyping – where I can quickly make ideas into something playable to gather feedback and iterate – but I’m equally experienced at polishing, bug fixing and on Saltsea Chronicles I took charge of some internal porting processes. I have an interest in game design – I enjoy participating in design meetings and often take the role of game designer in game jams.
I also have an interest in QA – I have a great eye for detail and enjoy testing features to make it as bug-free as possible. I like to work in the indie game industry as a programmer, while wearing other hats as well and I’m eager to continue my development and if possible particularly to specialise in gameplay, UI and technical narrative (tools, systems, support).

In my spare time I like to make and play games, play board games, play tabletop RPGs, watch anime, read webtoons, take naps, crochet, attempt to make music, bouldering, learn Japanese and play with my pet birds: Vinn and Sunny (they are very cute).
